Kane Brown Will Deliver A 'Grand' Performance At 2022 VMAs
Kane Brown will be making his VMAs debut from the Toyota Stage, performing his latest single “Grand” live for the first time on TV at the 2022 show.
The “Lose It” singer will make VMAs history on August 28 as the first male country artist to perform at the iconic awards show. Last year, he was the only country singer to receive a nomination, which he landed in the Video for Good category for his powerful single “Worldwide Beautiful.”
The lead-in to Brown’s performance this year is being hyped as a bit of a road trip from New York City across the Hudson River to New Jersey, where the show will be held inside Newark’s Prudential Center. It will also make use of mixed reality technology.
A new studio album from Brown titled Different Man is expected to drop on September 9. In addition to “Grand,” it will also include Brown’s other recent singles “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Different Man follows his 2018 album Experiment, which debuted No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums Chart. This solidified Brown as the only male country artist in more than 24 years to achieve this all-genre chart feat.
Brown will be in great company with other previously announced VMA performers Nicki Minaj — also the 2022 VMA Video Vanguard recipient — Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, and Panic! at the Disco.
Jack Harlow leads the field of nominations at this year’s show, along with Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X, who all received seven nods. Doja Cat and Harry Styles grabbed six each, and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd all racked up five. Find the full list of 2022 VMA nominees right here.
This year’s show will return to New Jersey’s Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday, August 28. The ceremony previously hit the Garden State in 2019, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco; last year’s show aired from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Be sure to go vote for your faves at vma.mtv.com.
