Bruno Mars Performed At The White House On July 4th And The Obamas Loved It

He Up-Town Funked them up.

If you'll recall, President Obama ushered in 2015 with a rather splendid rendition of "Uptown Funk", so it only makes sense that as a nation, we would celebrate the 239th anniversary of our independence with a little help from Bruno Mars in the middle of our nation's capital. Heck, it was probably Obama's idea.

(Actually, Mars' performed as the headliner of a USO-sponsored concert on the South Lawn of the White House that also featured a dazzling fireworks display and patriotic remarks from the president himself.)

Yep, clearly Barack and Michelle were down for the show. And Mars was very down to give it his all, running through a high-energy set that tore through Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" and even Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" before delving back into some original hits.

Mars also cleverly parlayed his trip to Washington, D.C. into the best photo opp you could possibly imagine.

He started off, one does, "All up in the yard like what"...

...before positioning himself (and a formidable squad), "All up in the yard like whip"...

...and finally finishing with a dash of panache: "All up in the yard like Nae Nae."

Again, the Obamas were into it -- though they were likely more invested in the tunes than the poses.

Nice work, Bruno. Next stop: Buckingham Palace?
